7 Wedding Entertainment Ideas
Entertainment keeps guests having fun and energized
Weddings are a bit like hosting the world’s biggest dinner party with a sprinkle of emotional chaos.
Youâve got your guests all dressed up, eagerly awaiting the main eventâyou two saying “I do”âand then, boom! You’re off with the photographer for what feels like an eternity while theyâre left to their own devices.
Cue the awkward mingling and the polite shuffling from canapĂŠ table to bar.
This is prime time to keep your loved ones entertained, because nobody wants their wedding remembered as âthe one with the longest wait for the bride and groom to come back.â
So. How do you keep everyone smiling while you perfect your smouldering pose for the album?
Offer your guests something fun while you slip away for photos.
You do not need to pour money into every quirky idea out there.
If you’ve got the budget, a touch of entertainment lifts the atmosphere and keeps the day moving.
Lets have a look at 7 wedding entertainment ideas I have seen over the years that keep guests busy and happy.
an essential part of creating an unforgettable experience
Secret Singing Waiters
Imagine this: your guests are happily tucking into their scotch broth whenâbam!âthe âwaiterâ carrying the bread rolls bursts into song.
Or the best one Iâve seen on social media is they wheel a cake through, not yours obviously, and drop it all over the floor, now that would be funny.
Secret singing waiters are the ultimate party trick, blending in as part of the staff before surprising everyone with a show-stopping performance.
Itâs fun, unexpected, and guaranteed to entertain your wedding guests and have everyone joining in.
Who knew dinner service could turn into a standing ovation?
Here are a couple of links to singing waiters that might be able to do your wedding.and this one
A Tarot card reading
Add a sprinkle of mystique to your wedding day by inviting a tarot card reader to entertain your wedding guests.
Whether theyâre uncovering their future or laughing over how their star signs “totally explain” their dance moves, itâs a unique and enchanting way to keep the vibe alive.
Plus, itâs an instant conversation starterâwho doesnât want to know if theyâll meet
their soulmate at Table 7?
When ??? and ??? got married in 2024 which was a small intimate wedding ?? booked this for her guests and I snuck in before I left and everyone else had a shot. (She told me to get out my own way in my business)
It was about 15 minutes long so it doesnât take up to much time, but your guests will be swapping notes as they wait for you to return.
And here’s a link to a Tarot card reader in Aberdeen.
Hire a Caricature Artist
Nothing says “best wedding ever” like a caricature of your granny with a massive grin and huge glasses.
A caricature artist adds a touch of hilarity to the day, with your wedding guests lining up to see which features get lovingly exaggerated.
Itâs a brilliant wedding entertainment idea, a conversation starter, and a souvenir theyâll proudly hang on their fridgeâor hide from their mates, depending on the likeness.
Either way, itâs all laughs and lasting memories!
Anna and Scott had one of these at their wedding In 2023 so I got to have a go at that as well.
It was Picky Pencil that was at this wedding and she did a grand job of mine and everyone was hanging around each other when it was being done so there were no quiet moments.

Hire a glitter bar
Oh I love the sound of this one and would make for fantastic photos
Who doesnât love a bit of sparkle?
Having a glitter bar at your wedding lets your guests channel their inner disco ball and leave the party looking like theyâve been hugged by a unicorn.
From shimmering cheeks to sparkly beards (yes, itâs a thing), itâs an easy way to crank up the fun and have everyone shining brighter than the chandeliers.
Just ensure you warn them that glitter sticks around longer than your honeymoon tanâthe gift keeps on giving!
Now most of the glitter bars I can find on the internet are in Glasgow or Edinburgh but that doesnât mean they wonât come to Aberdeen/shire, so check them out see which one you like and make that booking.
I couldn’t find a glitter bar in Aberdeen, but pretty sure you’ll be able to find one on Facebook.
At tattoo station
Why settle for just a day to remember when you can give your wedding guests a tattoo to remember it by?
I’ve seen this done at weddings on social media but not actually seen it done by any of my couples.
A tattoo station brings personality, a dash of rebellion, and the perfect chance for Uncle Dave to get âLive, Laugh, Loveâ inked on his bicep (temporary, of course⌠hopefully).
I wouldnât have a real tattooist there but nowadays temporary tattoos look amazing and last for ages.
You could even design a tattoo for your wedding and everyone get that.
This is one way to guarantee your wedding is unforgettableâliterally!
And here’s a link to a travelling tattoo artist that might be able to come to your wedding.
A Silent Disco
Now this I am dying to have a go at.
Weddings are a time-honoured celebration filled with joy, love, and some seriously questionable dance moves.
But have you heard about the new trend crashing the wedding scene that takes dancing to a whole new level of hilarity?
Enter the silent discoâa party phenomenon with wedding guests whispering sweet nothings into their headphones while busting out quiet moves!
Thereâs something quite captivating about silent discos.
Perhaps itâs the novelty factor that adds a touch of magic to any event.
While a live band or a traditional DJ setup sets the mood at a reception, the inclusion of a silent disco later in the night introduces an element of delightful absurdity to the affair.
A brilliant choice if you can’t make up your mind what kind of music you want on your wedding day perhaps.
Hire A Drag Queen
If you want your wedding to be fabulous with a capital F, a drag queen performance is the way to go.
Think big hair, dazzling outfits, and enough charisma to power the dance floor all night.
Your wedding guests will be cheering, laughing, and maybe even strutting their stuff by the end of the show.
Itâs like having a pop concert, comedy act, and runway spectacular rolled into oneâand trust us, nobody will be talking about the table centrepieces after that!
Heres a link to a company with lots of drag queens on it that would do weddings in Aberdeen.
Thereâs nothing quite like a bit of novelty to get your guests talking!
Why not throw in a margarita bar for the cocktail lovers, ice cream cones for the sweet-toothed, or a photo booth for those who canât resist a silly prop?
You could even crank it up a notch with a chip van rolling in at the end of the nightâbecause who doesnât love a sneaky midnight snack?
Now, I’m not saying you need to splash the cash on every quirky idea under the sun, but if youâve got a bit left in the budget, something fun and out of the ordinary can take your reception from great to unforgettable.
Did you have any of the above at your wedding, anyone you could recommend?
