A celebrant in Aberdeen for couples who want to laugh, love and legally tie the knot, I'm the girl to make your day memorable, fun and with meaning.

And we're off to Pittodrie House today for Courtn And we're off to

Pittodrie House today for Courtney and Tri's big day.

Not done a wedding here before and it's been years since I was even in the hotel, so I can't wait to see it all today.

Pretty sure there are going to be tears at this one today, and from the groom more than the bride, I think.

Looking forward to seeing them all there.

What about some colour... Earlier this week I sha What about some colour...

Earlier this week I shared a stunning black and white colour theme, if you missed it, go take a look; they were stunning.

But then I got thinking about Ella and Dean's wedding a couple of months back, where there was plenty of colour going on, and nobody was matching at all.

The colours were amazing, so bright and happy, they just made you want to smile.

So there's a reminder: your wedding party doesn't have to be
colour-coordinated to look incredible.

Its height of wedding season 😁

Been a mental week this week but such a good one.

All my scripts were approved with 5 stars, the new couples were all lovely, and we had some good craic on the calls.

Rehearsals were lovely, and everyone knew what they were doing on the day
And they were absolutely gorgeous weddings.

Now to treat myself, I'm off on a 4-hour cycle on Monday with some ladies, looking forward to that one, although I might be a bit sore after it.

Hope you've all had a great week. Wedding planning was left for a bit and you enjoyed all that sunshine on Saturday.

Where do we submit the M10S to? This one catches Where do we submit the M10S to?

This one catches folk out, a lot of couples assume it's their nearest registry office.
It's not.

It's wherever your venue actually is.

So if you're getting married at Logie Country House in Aberdeenshire, your paperwork goes to the Huntly Registry office, not Aberdeen.

If you're at the Dyce Hotel, that's the Aberdeen Registry Office in Marshall Square.

But don't worry, I have you covered with all of this M010 stuff.

I'm a bit OCD about the legal side of getting married and getting the paperwork in on time in the right way, to the right place.

Who can be your wedding witnesses? When you submi Who can be your wedding witnesses?

When you submit your M10 forms, you'll also need to tell the registrar who your two witnesses will be.

These are the people who'll sign your Marriage Schedule on your wedding day.

The rules are actually very simple...

✔️ They must be 16 or over.
✔️ They don't have to be part of your wedding party.

This year, quite a few of my couples are choosing their mums to be their witnesses, but they're keeping it a secret until the ceremony.

It's such a lovely surprise and always creates a really special moment. ❤️

Planning an elopement with just the two of you?

If you have a photographer and/or videographer with you, they can often be your witnesses too.

Just make sure you ask them beforehand, as you'll need to include your witnesses' details when you submit your M10 forms.

One thing to remember... your celebrant can't be one of your witnesses.

So if your photographer or videographer is one witness, you'll still need to arrange a second one.

If you're taking a couple of friends or family members along, one of them could be your other witness.

It's another little detail that's easy to sort once you know about it, and one less thing to worry about as the big day gets closer!

Mistakes couples make with their M10 wedding paper Mistakes couples make with their M10 wedding paperwork.

Mistake #1

Only one person fills in the M10.

It's one of the mistakes I see most often.

Even though the form asks for your partner's details, you both need to complete your own M10.

Two people = Two forms = One wedding. ❤️

When you've never had to do this before, it's an easy mistake to make, but an even easier one to avoid once you know.

Don't worry, though, I'll make sure you know exactly what's needed long before any paperwork is due.

Why do we need to fill in an M10? 🤔 The M10 is th Why do we need to fill in an M10? 🤔

The M10 is the Marriage Notice Form. It's the official way of telling the local registrar that you intend to get married.

Years ago, if you were getting married in church, this was done by reading the banns.

Today, everyone gives notice by completing an M10.

So, why is it needed?

Firstly, the registrar needs to make sure you're legally able to marry in Scotland.

That means checking things like:

💍 You're old enough to marry.
💍 You're not already married or in a civil partnership.
💍 If you've come from abroad, you have the correct immigration status or visa, where required.

It might not be the most glamorous part of wedding planning, but once it's done, it's one big tick off the wedding to-do list!

The legal side of getting married… let’s make it l The legal side of getting married… let’s make it less scary!

Legal wedding paperwork sounds about as exciting as a trip to the dentist, but don't worry, I promise it's much easier than it sounds! 😄

This week, I'm going to walk you through exactly what you need to do, what I need to do, and how we make sure your ceremony is not only beautiful but completely legal too.

These are some of the questions I'm asked most often by couples

"What do we need to do?"
"How does it all work?"
"Can you legally marry us?"

Let's answer that last one first…

Yes, I can!

I'm a legally authorised celebrant with Open Beliefs Scotland, which means I'm approved to conduct legal marriage ceremonies in Scotland.

But there's paperwork involved for me too.

Before your ceremony, I have to apply to the National Records of Scotland for my authority to marry you on your chosen date.

So while you're filling in forms, I'll be doing my own behind-the-scenes paperwork too.

The paperwork malarky is a team effort 😁

Moments like this Remind me why I'll never write Moments like this

Remind me why I'll never write a "one-size-fits-all" ceremony.

I'm always hoping that when I write a couple's ceremony script, I've truly got it right.

That I've captured them to a T.
The right tone.
The right balance of laughter and love.
And all those little details that make their story uniquely theirs.

So when I get feedback like this back from my couple, I can't help but smile.

It means the world to me to know I've created exactly what they were hoping for.

After spending months getting to know them, hearing their stories, and carefully writing every word, there's nothing better than knowing they feel seen.

Now I can't wait to stand in front of all their family and friends and bring their story to life. ❤️

The stuff nobody thinks about (but really should) The stuff nobody thinks about (but really should)

Sunscreen. Bug spray. Essential oils.

Not exactly the most glamorous part of wedding planning, but if your ceremony is outside in summer, these things matter.

Stash sunscreen around your guest areas, different SPFs, spray bottles, and child-friendly options.

Pop some in the toilets too.

For bugs (especially those pesky midgies in Scotland) , citronella candles dotted around work a treat, and essential oils like lavender, lemongrass and peppermint are a lovely natural option.

The guests who didn't get eaten alive or sunburnt will thank you the next day.

Right, who's thirsty? Hot weather and weddings ar Right, who's thirsty?

Hot weather and weddings are a brilliant combination, but you need to think about keeping everyone hydrated, and I don't just mean with Prosecco.

Now, some of these ideas would depend on whether your venue or caterer has the capacity to handle them for you, but let's have a look at some options for hydration.

Frozen cocktails after the ceremony are a cracking idea; they won't last long in the heat, but they'll be gorgeous while they do.

A signature cocktail is a brilliant touch at a summer wedding, and always have a mocktail option too, not everyone drinks.

And please, please make sure there's plenty of cold water around.

A cooler box, or beer barrel packed with ice and bottles of water, is cheap, easy, and your guests will thank you for it.

Alcohol dehydrates you fast in the heat, especially on an empty stomach, so if you and your guests can pace yourself a bit with water between drinks, all the better.

Theres a lot more ways to keep your guests cool on the blog at https://www.thecelebrantangel.com/keeping-wedding-guests-cool/

Top and bottom Ice cream at a wedding? Yes please Top and bottom

Ice cream at a wedding? Yes please.

Anyone else's idea of a perfect summer wedding involve an ice cream van?

Skip the traditional dessert and hire a retro one for after the ceremony instead. Honestly, show me a guest who wouldn't love that.

Or if the budget doesn't stretch that far, a cooler box packed with ice lollies does the same job and costs a fraction of the price.

For the meal itself, think cold canapés, melon is a brilliant one, or a starter like Gazpacho.

I’m not allowed to eat tomatoe based food when I’m wearing white though, always spill it down myself 😊

Have a chat with your caterer about what works, there are loads of lovely options that will keep everyone feeling cool and comfortable.

Now I don't know about anyone else, but my feet get so hot in hot weather, so what about wee paddling pools scattered around for the guests to dip their toes in?

The kids will love it, and I guarantee a few adults will be in there too. Just have some towels handy.

I'll be honest, I'd be sneaking my toes in too. 😄

Anyone get married on Saturday in all that heat? Anyone get married on Saturday in all that heat?

Were you inside or out?

As I write this, we all know what Scottish summers are like, we’ve maybe had it for the summer already, so this week’s post about keeping your guests cool might be a bit late😊

And as I sit and write this in my shorts and T-shirt, the heavens have just opened, and I mean fully open, it's torrential rain, which is exactly what I meant when I said our summer is over in a flash 😊

But let's have a look at ways to keep your guests cool at a summer wedding, whether that’s inside or out.

First up, what time are you thinking you'll have your ceremony?

If you're planning an outdoor ceremony, one of the best things you can do for you and your guests is think about the time of day your saying your I dos.

In the UK, things start to cool down around 4pm.

So, if you have any flexibility with your timings, a later ceremony could make a big difference, not just for comfort, but for the light in your photos too.

And a twilight ceremony#daniellelesliephotography by the way.

Another busy Wee week this week, doing what I lov Another busy

Wee week this week, doing what I love best, meeting new couples, writing ceremonies and getting sight of the weddings i've done recently in the photos, they always make me smile.

I love taking my notes from our meetings and turning them into something they can share in their ceremony.

It's a wee walk down memory lane for them when they see it for the first time, and i love to see their response to the little bits I collate in my meetings, that they didn't know I saw or heard, but took note of and had them in the ceremony.
