Humanist Wedding Celebrant in Aberdeen

celebrantangel

A celebrant in Aberdeen for couples who want to laugh, love and legally tie the knot, I'm the girl to make your day memorable, fun and with meaning.

What are you doing on Sunday 1st June? Got any pl What are you doing on Sunday 1st June?

Got any plans? No? Well, how about this…

If you're just dipping your toes into wedding planning—or even if you're knee-deep in Pinterest boards and still venue-less—why not swing by Elrick House for their open day Sunday, 1st June.

It’s an afternoon at a stunning venue.

A great opportunity to see the stunning garden marquee and luxury accommodation. The day promises to be relaxed and fun, with time to enjoy some great music and a glass of fizz.

And it’s free.

There are some cracking wedding suppliers (myself included) going to be there.

You might walk in with a notebook and walk out with your wedding practically planned.

Now imagine the smug feeling of ticking half your to-do list off before Sunday lunch…

Come for a nosey, stay for some inspiration.

We’ll be there, and we’d love to meet you!

Walking Down The Aisle I love this option as a wa Walking Down The Aisle

I love this option as a way to include your mum in your wedding.

Traditionally, the bride’s father gives her away, but we don’t always do traditional, do we?

Perhaps your father isn’t around to walk you down the aisle.

Would your mum like to do that?

Or if both parents are around, why not have them both walk you down the aisle?

Or what about having both the mums walk down the aisle together before you do your walk down the aisle.

Mums the word.

Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve had some lovely couples booking in for 2026 and even 2027! During our first chats, one thing that keeps coming up, especially from the brides, is the idea of including their mum in the ceremony.

And I absolutely love that.

So this week, I’m sharing a few ways you can involve your mum on your big day, and you can read the full blog here https://www.thecelebrantangel.com/5-ways-to-include-your-mum-in-your-wedding

Let’s start with one of my favourite ideas:

Photos. As a celebrant, I’ve seen some truly special mum moments captured by photographers, and they always tug at the heartstrings.

Is your mum getting ready with you? If she is, you could still plan a special “first look” moment. Just before you put your dress on and the final touches, have her step out of the room briefly, then bring her back in with the photographer ready to catch that first glimpse.

Keep your makeup artist nearby—there’s a high chance of happy tears.

Mother-Daughter Photos
Chat with your photographer about setting aside time for some beautiful, relaxed mother-daughter photos. You can snap a few during the getting-ready phase, then grab a few more once you're both dressed and glowing.

Wow, where have the first 4 months of 2025 gone? Wow, where have the first 4 months of 2025 gone?

It’s been a whirlwind of a year already — packed with ceremonies, busy beavering away behind the scenes, meeting my lovely couples, writing scripts, and keeping daily life ticking over.

May is just around the corner (along with a rumoured heatwave this week!), and from here on in, it's back-to-back weddings until December.

My 2026 diary is open and filling up fast and I've even opened my 2027 diary for bookings too!

I cannot thank all my couples enough for booking me as their celebrant and letting me be part of their big day, its my favourite place to be

No confetti? No problem! Some venues say a firm n No confetti? No problem!

Some venues say a firm no to confetti – and that’s OK.. or perhaps you don't want to be covered in confetti on your wedding day.

Have you thought about using bubbles instead?

Sarah and Andrew went for bubbles at their wedding last year, and honestly, it was magic.

The guests loved joining in, and with the sun shining, those rainbow-coloured bubbles floated like tiny bits of joy and there was no cleaning up to do afterwards 😁

Thank you I may never win an award as a celebrant Thank you

I may never win an award as a celebrant, but the words from my couples are the best awards I could ever ask for.

Lindsey and Cally were my secret wedding, a couple who were a joy to work with, and trusted me fully that I "got" them right and let me do my "thing" for their ceremony.

We had a ball on the night and it's a couple and a ceremony that I will never forget.

Thank you guys for the amazing feedback

So… remember I told you yesterday's wedding was So… remember I told you yesterday's wedding was a secret,

well the secrets out.

I was at The King Robert Hotel in Stirling, supposedly for a joint 40th birthday party for Cally and Lindsey…

But surprise! 🎉 It turned out to be a secret wedding — and not a soul (apart from hotel staff and one very well-briefed friend) had a clue!

I’d been working with Cally and Lindsey remotely since they booked me, and only met them face-to-face on the night — and what a cracking couple they are! So well-suited, full of fun, and clearly up to deliver the surprise.

We kicked things off by getting them up to sing Happy Birthday, and then… BAM! We told the guests what they were really there for.

The reaction? Cheers, tears, and maybe a few jaw drops for good measure.

It was a brilliant night with a wild crowd — I reckon there’ll be more than a few sore heads in Stirling this morning.

It was a fair trek home, and I didn’t roll in until midnight, but totally worth it to see everyone’s faces when the penny dropped. 🥰
Can’t wait to share the photos when they land — both Cally and Lindsey looked amazing.

This was my 2nd surprise wedding, and I absolutely love doing them 😇

And we're off On the secret mission today, a surp And we're off

On the secret mission today, a surprise wedding.

I cannot wait to see this couple and the faces of their guests when they learn it's not a party they're there for, but a wedding.

I do love a surprise wedding and you know why?

There is zero Pressure on Guests. They arrive relaxed, dressed for a party, expecting buffet sausage rolls and balloons—not a ceremony! So there’s no outfit stress or nerves.

No Opinions to Dodge When no one knows a wedding’s happening, there are no unsolicited opinions on your flower choices, the date, the venue or who should sit with who for dinner.

The day is about the couple, two people choosing each other. No big fuss (unless you want it), just love, laughter, and a lot of surprised faces.

People love a twist. And once the shock wears off, the atmosphere is electric. It becomes one of those “you had to be there” stories guests talk about for years.

Less Fuss, More Feeling. Surprise weddings are often intimate, emotional, and real.

It Reflects Your Personality. If a couple are unconventional, spontaneous, and up for a laugh—it shows in the most joyful way possible. It screams, “We’re doing this our way.”

Can't wait to tell you all about it next week.

Memories I love it when couples remember their lo Memories

I love it when couples remember their loved ones like this at their reception—and of course, we mention them in the ceremony, too.

Now, I’ve been told before not to include that kind of thing, because ‘a wedding is meant to be fun.’

But your ceremony should reflect you, and if that means honouring the people who can’t be there, then that’s exactly what we’ll do.

Melissa and Clyde chose to include their loved ones in the ceremony, and I invited guests to raise a toast to them all later at the reception.

There are so many ways to include those special people—this memory table is just one of them, and a lovely way for guests to see their faces and remember who they were.

Not every wedding needs a white dress and a big pa Not every wedding needs a white dress and a big party…

I had the most beautiful conversation last week with an older couple who simply want to get their affairs in order.

They were married once, divorced, and now—many years later—they want to make sure the legal bits are sorted for their family before they pass.

Now, I know that might sound a bit morbid to some… but honestly, it was anything but. It was full of care, kindness, and love.

I explained the different ways they could do that, without needing a big ceremony.

They could pop to the registry office and do it there.

Or…

I could pop in for a coffee, we’d chat about life, and they could sign the paperwork with two witnesses present.
Simple, meaningful, and fuss-free.

As we ended the call, he said to me:

"It’s no wonder you’re a celebrant. You’ve got such a lovely, kind and caring nature—and you’ve put my mind at rest. It’s good to know we can do this without all the fuss."

Now, I might not end up doing their legal paperwork—but they’ve gone away knowing their options.

And I’ve gone away with a warm heart and a lovely conversation I won’t forget.

It's not always about a couple booking you, it's about helping couples do exactly what they want and need, and I'm so grateful I'm able to do that for them.

We were at the beautiful Balfreish Barns in Nairn, the weather was just perfect, not too hot, little wind towards the end just perfect.

The guests were a hoot, and the couple were amazing.

Thank you to MeganJackPhotography for the photos 😇

I got to work with Shona from Ayedo Events and Niall from Wee Wedding Films, and I hope to see them all again soon.

Ever spotted a hidden message at a wedding venue? Ever spotted a hidden message at a wedding venue?

I absolutely love this photo taken at the entrance to Thainstone House by the talented Logan from Deeside Photographics, at Cassie and Lewis's gorgeous wedding.

Now I can't say i noticed it on the day, but it's a cracking photo and I wondered what it meant.

So I did what we all do... I asked Google (what did we do before Google?).

It means: "What you seek is here."
Isn’t that just the loveliest sentiment for a hotel and wedding venue?

Now I’m wondering — do any other venues have a wee phrase or saying at the entrance?

I clearly need to start paying more attention on my travels!

If you’ve seen any, let me know – I’d love to start a collection.
